Hot Winter Fashion Accessories 2010 – 2011

When you're trying to make the outfit, it's always about the accessories. This winter, you have a lot of fun things to choose from: alternative jewelry, gloves, tights, and hats. Belts are actually thin and less emphasized for the winter look, although they're still a vital accessory. Take a look at what you should have in your wardrobe this season to get that off the runway style.

Costume Jewelry

We're not just talking rhinestones, although that's there, too. Heavily ornamented leather cuffs are around in a tool chest or a hobby closet.

Gloves

Fingerless gloves are very chic right now. Leather makes another appearance here, also ornamented with charms and studs. The gloves come in all lengths, from up to the elbow to shorter versions. Satin and velvet gloves are also great choices for formal occasions, but aren't as trendy as the leather right now.

Tights

Boots are really stompin', but tights are what seal the deal. showing up on the red carpet and make a frugal fashion accessory to add to your closet. Chunky necklaces and oversized rings are dramatic to wear and make a bold statement. You probably don't even have to go shopping to make some of these on your own with whatever large baubles you've got lying Add color and drama with a pair of opaque tights that accentuate the curves of your legs and really make the boots stand out. Use them with skirts of all sizes, from maxi length to miniskirts. If you want to opt for the color palette of the season, use a stark white pair of tights with a black or grey outfit.

Hats

These never go out of style. Fur hats, in particular, go wonderfully with the fall/winter look. Trapper hats with side flaps and fur on the front were spotted at several fashion shows. Leopard skin hats are also making an appearance.

Taming Wild Hair

Having curly, wavy or frizzy hair can be a burden as much as it is a blessing. Often with hair types like these, you may wake up one morning and find you hair is totally out of control! Wild hair often stubbornly refuses to be styled and can be utterly unmanageable, but if you are afflicted with this curse there are certain steps you can take to help encourage your hair to be a little more agreeable.

One natural solution that does not involve adding any product to your hair is to wash your hair with water at a slightly lower temperature. According to several studies on the web, quite a few women with difficult hair have found that if they rinse their hair out with colder water it is less frizzy and aggressive when they dry it later. A more artificial option is to opt for products designed to tame wild hair. Lots of shampoos and conditioners come with built in frizz defence. When your hair is dry you can add gel or mousse designed to keep your hair in check. These should be applied with your fingertips from the crown to the roots, and be careful not to use too much as this can do more damage than good.

Leaving in your conditioner for a little longer when in the shower can also help your unruly hair calm down a bit. This is only a brief fix though, so alternatively you could look into leave-in conditioners. These are conditioners designed to be sprayed into your hair and pulled through with a brush or your fingertips, giving lasting smoothness to your hair throughout the day. You can also try applying a deep conditioner every week or so. These are designed to help lock moisture into your hair, so if used once a week on a systematic basis, over time they prevent your hair from drying out and becoming frizzy.

Heat is a major factor in causing hair to become extra frizzy. Heat styling damages your hair a lot more than most people realise, and so if you really want to avoid frizz then you should also avoid using straighteners. Although, if you do still want to straighten your hair, be sure to use a heat protect spray in conjunction or a pair of quality hair straighteners from ghd, with special plates that protect your hair from getting damaged while you straighten it . When blow drying your hair, set the dryer to a cooler setting. It may take a little longer to dry your hair, but it will be worth it if it makes your hair more manageable. If you have a diffuser attachment for your blow dryer, this will also help your hair dry in a straighter and smoother fashion.

You should also try to avoid using a close knit hair brush on wild, frizzy hair. Tugging a brush like this through your hair can cause damage, and you are better off brushing your hair out with a wide toothed comb or brush whilst the hair is still damp. You may even want to run a comb through your hair in the shower whilst your still have conditioner in. This will help prevent tangles and knots from forming after you wash your hair.
